The Cirio range includes peeled and chopped tomatoes (plum, round and cherry - 'pomodorini'), passatas (sieved tomatoes), cooking sauces and ready-to-use pasta and pesto sauces.
The San Marzano variety of tomato is very fleshy, has few seeds and delivers a rich flavour. Cirio uses a hybrid variety which offers the same eating quality and flavour.
Using the 'Brix' measurement system that rates the concentration of natural sugar, Cirio products range from 6 - 6.5° Brix for Chopped / Plum tomatoes to 18 - 20° Brix for the Cirio puree. A fresh tomato has between 4.5 - 5° Brix. |
